I'm building a new XenApp farm in VMware, having had success running PS4.0 in same environment. However, I did have some issues trying to use templates. At the time, we were running ESX Enterprise 3.0.2. I have since upgraded to Vmware 3.5.1 and was wondering if anyone had success using a template of a ready built server. We just publish the desktop and our main apps are just Office 2003 and Lotus Notes 7.

most commen you can template to a complete windows server 2003 environment. Then you need to install citrix with answer files and then the rest of your sofware with answer files. Using a template is like cloning, for a citrix server a bit undoable.

Well, I did create a basic VMware template of the XenApp server and using a pre-configured script to change the name and generate a new SID, it appeared to work just fine. However, after attending a XenApp class given by Brian Cambier, I was advised that solution may have problems with some of the resource monitoring etc. so I decided to do a little more research. I found a great looking document on a unitek blog that I'm going to try out. Will keep you posted (anyone that's interested, that is)

Dear Tony,

You can use the XenApp Cloning Tool I've developped to achieve requirements / modifications for Cloning (This tool is basically automating all KB required steps for Cloning).

It is available on http://www.citrixtools.net/en/Downloads.aspx

I seem to be having a problem registering on this web site. It is not taking my password, and I have tried numerous combinations. Any ideas what the problem might be?
